This is the latest kid on the block having being launched in 2018. Powered by Verizon, Visible is a prepaid cellphone carrier with excellent network coverage, the only draw-back being that it has limited plans.
As a start-up cell phone carrier which was launched in 2018, Visible is still in its early stage and is carrying out an open beta test. To have access to the cellphone carrier, you will need to be given an invitation code by a member of Visible, but this condition was only applicable to when it first came on board and not at the moment. If you are privileged to get early access, then you get to enjoy lots of special treats and privileges associated with registering early. It is believed that as the year goes on, there would be higher patronage and better service.
As a subsidiary of the best network provider in the United States, Visible benefits from having direct access to Verizon. Hence, Visible is an ideal prepaid option for most Americans at least in terms of a wide range of coverage. On the other hand, Visible is not so good when it comes to speed of data connection as the cell provider is limited to a data speed of 5Mbps. This is just enough to make calls, send messages, browse the internet and stream online in DVD quality, but when compared to Verizon’s lightning speed of data, Visible is merely crawling.
Understandably, the cellphone carrier should have limited services; after all, they are relatively new. It has only one plan which cost about $40 monthly but offers talk, text and 4G LTE data usage that are unlimited. The price of the plan also includes tax and other levies. As stated earlier, Visible has a data speed limited of 5Mbps but does not have a high-speed data cap, unlike its counterparts with the same unlimited data.
You will not also be able to fully utilize your unlimited data plan while using tethering mobile hotspot, although the limit of the hotspot is 5Mbps. Just like the prepaid plan of its parent’s company Verizon, Visible’s plans are deprioritized when the network gets congested. This does not favor some consumers, especially when it comes to location and the number of people using Verizon in a particular area, but this may not have an impact on your network speed.
Furthermore, Visible does not accommodate more than one line per account; neither does it give the usual discount given to multiple additions of lines. Visible is different from other cellphone carriers in that it is selling itself as a millennial carrier. It limits the physical interaction of customers and sales people as it are managed using its Android and IOS app. You get to contact the customer care, pay your bills using either credit or debit card, PayPal or Venmo.
The cellphone carrier is compatibles with some Android phones such as Samsung Galaxy S9 series, Visible R2, and most iPhones starting from Iphone6. It also promises to make more phones compatible with it in the coming months. If you have any of these phones mentioned above, then you can try out Visible. If you don’t, all you need do is purchase a compatible phone and a SIM card. Don’t worry; Visible also offers finance. You can buy a compatible phone from any of its outlet closest to you, they are smartphone flagships, but for the R2, it only goes for $99.
In all, Visible is one cellphone carrier that promises great things. However, with simple services provided, app-based customer service management that appeals only to the younger generation and streamlined network, it makes it less desirable. Despite these, the fact that it is a subsidiary of network giants Verizon and its affordable prices make Visible an ideal choice for thousands of Americans.
