Home Chef Meal Delivery

Home Chef is a meal kit service which aims to provide customers with original recipes. These can easily be prepared thanks to the pre-prepared ingredients which are shipped out to subscribers. Furthermore, you will be able to plan meals in advance and cut down on the amount of time you spend in the kitchen. Once the culinary team has produced a range of recipes, customers can select the ones which appeal to them the most. This meal delivery service will suit those who want to try out cooking without the same level of effort as traditional meal preparation.

With Home Chef, you can add on services such as lunches that don’t require any cooking to prepare. You can also customise your orders by selecting recipes which go with your diet. Furthermore, it’s possible to decide how many meal kits you will receive per order, plus the number of servings for each meal. You can order extra portions of your favorite recipe, adjust the protein source for meals and so on.

How it works

Signing up with Home Chef is simple. You will first be asked to confirm which types of foods you like to eat, such as meat, vegetables and seafood. There is also space to select whether you’d like to avoid ingredients such as soy, gluten and nuts. You will then have the option to choose whether you would prefer low carb and low calorie recipes. Once you have entered your shipping information, you will be able to decide when you want your first delivery to arrive. You will receive all the necessary information upfront; for example, Home Chef will let you know that you will be charged right away for your first delivery.

There are certain add ons available, such as seasonal fruit baskets and breakfasts. Furthermore, you can purchase premium meals to add in to your order if you so desire. After submitting your information for shipments, you can move on to selecting meals. While Home Chef will have already put in some work to select meals based on your personal dietary preferences, these aren’t set in stone. You will be able to swap in any other meals which are available on the menu for that week.

There is a Taste Profile with Home Chef, where customers can refine their preferences further. Examples include stipulating whether they prefer meat with skin or without bones, plus ingredients they don’t mind being included in meals. When you click on each meal, you will be able to see the full recipe, along with detailed instructions and information about what supplies you’ll need to provide yourself. Some of the recipes will include pre-prepared vegetables, which saves on time in the kitchen. Plus, there are recipes which don’t require any cooking, such as salads with pre-cooked meat. If you want to buy high quality kitchenware to help with your cooking, Home Chef also has on sale skillets, pans, knives, mixing bowls and so on.

Meal plans and recipes

New customers at Home Chef will fill out a taste chart, which lets them make clear which ingredients they would like included in their meals. Once this has been filled out, you will be equipped with a taste profile. This feature can prove particularly useful for people with allergies or those who don’t eat meat. Unlike many meal delivery companies, where you would need to choose between either a 2 person plan or one for a family of four, you will be able to decide between receiving 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 meals a week for 2, 4 or 6 people. Following this step, you will be able to choose whether you would like your meals delivered on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.

A relatively new feature available with Home Chef is Flexible Servings. With this system, you will be able to add either two or four servings to certain menu items. This means that if you are having friends over, you can have a larger amount of food delivered to prepare for special events. By choosing a menu item which has a label saying Customize It, users will be able to double up on, upgrade or switch out the protein in the recipe.

Delivery and packaging

You will be able to have meal kits shipped to most locations in the United States, although there are certain remote areas which will not be eligible. According to its delivery map, shipping locations cover around 98% of the country. You can enter your zip code on the company website to find out if it delivers to your location. If it doesn’t, rest assured that the delivery range will continue growing, so check back again in the future.

Meals from Home Chef are shipped in boxes which are recycled, compostable and biodegradable, so you don’t have to worry about having a negative impact on the environment. Furthermore, there are ice packs inside the boxes to keep ingredients fresh.

The pricing around Home Chef products are fairly average compared to other companies in the industry. Depending on whether you’re purchasing a lunch, dinner or add-on, the price per serving will range between $4.95 and $9.95. The good thing about Home Chef’s pricing is that costs will remain the same regardless of the number of kits and servings purchased. What’s more, shipping is free, which is rarely seen amongst industry competitors.

Customers can order as many different items from the weekly menu as they would like. Fruit and smoothie add ons are available to purchase for an additional $4.95, and premium meals will also be on offer from time to time. These special meals will cost a little more than the standard items, as they will be for special occasions such as holidays and include multiple sides, plus a dessert. Delivery is free for orders which cost over $45, but there will be a fee for purchases which are below this price bracket.

Home Chef is a meal delivery service which provides recipes that are easy to make. It’s known for being flexible in terms of portions and meal choices. There are also add ons available such as fruit baskets, smoothies, lunches and premium meals. With a range of menu items available for each week and free shipping for most orders, there is bound to be something that appeals to anyone browsing this service.
