Green Chef Meal Delivery

BEST MEAL DELIVERY SERVICES

Green Chef is a meal delivery service suited to those who are either living alone or with a partner. It emphasises sourcing meals which are sustainable, organic and non-GMO. It will work well for people who have a lifestyle which involves regularly eating at restaurants, but want to start cooking more at home.

The recipes provided with Green Chef are of restaurant quality, and will typically be cheaper than going out to eat. Furthermore, Green Chef will let people learn about ways of eating such as paleo, vegan, gluten free, vegetarian and keto.

How it works

To get started with Green Chef, first decide if you’ll be cooking for two people or four. Those who are cooking for two will be able to choose from seven different meal programs, which cater to different diet plans. Meanwhile, if you choose to cook for four people, there will be two child friendly programs, one of which can be selected. There is a separate menu for every program each week. With the two person plan you can pick three recipes from the weekly menu, of which there will be between four and six to choose from. If you have the four person plan, the culinary team at Green Chef will choose two recipes.

Shipments are sent out each week in insulated and refrigerated boxes. This ensures that ingredients remain fresh even if you aren’t home when the order shows up. The ingredients in each shipment have already been portioned out, so you won’t need to worry about food waste. The recipes have been created by an experienced chef and are easy to follow, typically taking no more than 30 minutes to prepare. The subscription is renewed each week, but while this is an automatic process, you can still cancel it at any point. You can also make changes to your subscription such as skipping a week, changing the frequency of your shipments or adjusting your meal plan.

Meal plans and recipes

There is a huge range of recipes on offer with Green Chef, and they cater to many different diet plans. Professional chefs have created each of the menu items, and even cooking newbies will find the recipes easy to follow. With the two person meal plan, you will be able to choose from seven different programs – plant-powered, gluten-free, pescatarian, balanced living, vegetarian, paleo and keto. Those who are gluten free can follow the keto and paleo programs – plus, of course, the gluten free plan. With the plant powered menu, there will be four recipes on offer per week. Meanwhile five recipes are on the menu with the vegetarian, keto, paleo, pescatarian and gluten-free plans. The balanced living menu has six choices available for its customers each week. The family plans don’t have as many choices, as you can only go with either the omnivore or the carnivore program. These both only have two recipes a week, which means you won’t be able to choose your meals. Your only option would be to skip a delivery if a menu doesn’t appeal to you.

The main bonus seen with Green Chef recipes is that they are quick and easy to make. They feature pre-made sauces, marinades and spice blends, which speeds up the amount of time you spend in the kitchen. Additionally, these ingredients will ensure you create recipes with restaurant style quality and taste.

Delivery and packaging

You can have Green Chef dinner kits delivered to most places in the continental US. There are some areas in Louisiana which are not covered, and shipments to Hawaii and Alaska are not available. Providing you do so before the weekly cut-off, you will be able to change your delivery day and your delivery address.

In terms of sustainability, Green Chef aims to balance out their carbon emissions by providing environmentally friendly meal plans. Their goal is to provide a service which is kinder to the environment than driving to your local grocery store. Furthermore, the company puts in work to save the trees in local communities. Additional work they put in towards this effort includes sustainably sourcing seafood to support fisheries and providing recyclable packaging. The ClimaCel insulator and ice packs which are packed into shipments to keep food cold as they travel to your doorstep can be recycled along with the other, more obvious, parts of the packaging.

Pros

  • Organic ingredients: This ensures that it’s easy for people to change their eating plan to approaches such as vegetarian, vegan, paleo or keto. Green Chef stands out compared to the competitors in the industry thanks to providing ingredients which are organic, sustainable and non-GMO. It’s also good for people who are unsure how to change their eating style.
  • High quality: The meat, seafood, vegetables and sauces are of a high quality. The chefs at Green Chef also ensure meat is packaged in a separate bag in order to protect the rest of the ingredients from potential contamination.

  • Useful color coding: The ingredients and recipe cards are color coded so you know which ingredients are meant for particular recipes. This saves confusion further down the line and accidentally using the wrong ingredients.
  • High quality recipes: Those who want to experiment with flavours that go beyond traditional American dishes will enjoy trying out the spice blends provided by Green Chef.
