If you are new to World of Tanks, chances are you might be looking for some starter advice and tricks to help you get into the game without making any mistakes.

We have prepared some expert advice tailored just for beginners who are looking to get strong tanks and win battles more often.

Tip #1 - Choosing the Best Tank

After playing for a short amount of time, you will have different tanks available to choose from. Take a look at the map you’re playing.

For wide-open battlefield maps, which require much movement and different maneuvers, you should go for a faster tank type, such as light tanks.

If you are fighting a battle in a city-based map, heavy tanks are the best option. You won’t have to do much moving and traveling, so the extra firepower will come in handy, at the expense of speed.

Since the game features historical tanks from different countries, you could just pick a cool tank that belongs to your own nation, and have fun, while feeling patriotic!

Tip #2 - Don’t Be a Lone Wanderer

New players often tend to rush alone into the enemy territory and get destroyed in a few moments. Very rarely they manage to take out a single enemy tank and that doesn’t make it any better.

This is a team game and because of complex strategy requirements, teamplay is even more important than in most other multiplayer browser games.

Try to communicate with your teammates and assign each other roles within the current battles. Never separate too much from your battalion, unless you are piloting a smaller tank and you’re planning to scout ahead.

Tip #3 - Don’t Be Afraid To Take a Hit For Your Team

If your teammate is low on health and is about to be destroyed by an enemy tank, try to help him as much as you can. If you’re in position and sure that you won’t die, it’s a good idea to jump in front of him in order to save him.

Doing such things will boost team morale and improve your chances of victory, you might lose some health points, but your team will have an additional weapon to shoot at enemies as the battle progresses.

Tip #4 - Angle Your Tank

World of Tanks is very accurate in depicting real history, as well as real tank battles. One of many super-realistic things included is the huge difference in damage taken, depending on where you were hit.

If you get hit in the front or back, you will take extra damage, because that is the core structure of your tank. Being hit in tank tracks will deal reduced damage and you will be able to win most battles if you position your tank carefully.

Try to always face other tanks sideways so you can hide your tank main-structure and shield yourself with your tracks. Enemy players who approach you using their front side will get decimated and you will feel like a true pro.

Tip #5 - Plan Ahead

From the moment you spawn, you should know what to do. There are different roles included for each and every player. Some will play as scouts, others will be on anti-tank duty. The main battalion will consist of mostly heavy tanks, who will be supported by artillery and medium tanks.

Executing a careful plan this way will guarantee success until you climb to the highest level of professional World of Tanks gameplay. Full coordination can prove hard to achieve while playing with random teammates on lower levels, but just one or two tanks who try hard can make a huge difference.

Usually, you will stand still while shooting, and move from point A to point B to find cover. Never let yourself get into a situation where point B is full of enemies or in the middle of the battlefield. It’s a good idea to be bold at certain times, but avoid being careless, since it will cost you and your team.

You’re Almost a Professional Tank Soldier

Using these awesome tips we have provided, you should be completely ready to start playing and dominate your tank peers.

Remember, World of Tanks is all about strategic teamplay and good cooperation will often win you games alone.

Just remember to have fun.
