Air convection fryers are a great alternative if you don’t have an oven at home or even if you don’t prefer to use the oven that you do have. Maybe you have an oven but it is not a convection oven so it doesn’t cook foods very evenly. Well, the Black & Decker Purify Air Convection Fryer does.
This air fryer may be small in size, but it can heat up to 400 degrees and hold approximately 8 cups of food at once. Its small size also allows it to fit just about anywhere, making it a great option for places with limited counterspace or dorm rooms. In this article, I’ll be telling you a little bit more about all of the features that this air fryer comes with, as well as what the pros and cons of this fryer are.
The Black & Decker Purify Air Convection Fryer is a compact fryer that can cook all of the foods you love without the fatty oils that you don’t love. It can evenly cook things like chicken wings, tater tots, and pizza rolls with little to no oil, making it a much healthier cooking alternative to deep frying or even using a regular convection oven.
This fryer uses a dual convection fan similar to one that you would find in a regular full size convection oven to circulate the hot air around the food, resulting in food that is crispy and evenly cooked. It is pretty easy to use as well. All you have to do is adjust the dials to whatever temperature and time settings you need, put your food in, and then wait for the indicator light to tell you when it’s done. Shaking the basket halfway through will result in crispier, more evenly cooked foods too.
This air fryer is only available in black with silver details. It comes equipped with a nonstick, dishwasher safe cooking basket, as well as a basket divider that allows you to cook two different types of foods at once without them touching each other. Since the basket is nonstick, there is no need to spray it with cooking oil, allowing for a much easier cleanup. The exterior stays fairly cool as well to prevent you from accidentally burning yourself.
There are two downsides for this fryer though, the first one being that the size of the cooking basket is quite small. It only has a 2 liter holding capacity, meaning that this is best for cooking foods to serve one to three people. The second downside is the manual dial control panel. The print that tells you the different temperatures and times is very small and difficult to read, making it harder to adjust the dials correctly.
While this fryer is not extremely pricey, it is not extremely budget friendly either. It falls somewhere in the middle at a moderate price. This fryer is also backed by a two year warranty that will cover any defects that may occur in the fryer throughout the firs two years of you owning it.
I would say that this is a pretty good option for an air fryer, but not a great one. It does have some nice features like the dual convection fans, the cooking basket that is both dishwasher safe and nonstick, the basket divider, and the automatic shutoff function, but many of these features can be found in other fryers that are either more affordable, larger, or more modern.
2 liters is a fairly small holding capacity when you compare it to other air fryers that are out there. Yes, the compact size of this fryer makes it convenient to fit in place with limited counterspace, but there are also other air fryers out there that are compact and still have a bit of a larger holding capacity. The hard to read print and outdated dials are a bit of a downside too for the price that you pay for this fryer.
Overall, I would say this is a good fryer, but you don’t get the most value for your money with this one.
