When we talk about Active Campaign, we can’t go past the obvious benefits of the email marketing service – it is versatile, interactive, and helpful at a reasonable price. Its automation and reporting tools are off the charts, and their customer service is quite splendid. We can expect frequent updates from them, especially user-driven – if you stumble upon something you don’t like there and give them feedback, chances are they will take notice and try to fix it as fast as possible. Even though the interface can come as confusing in the beginning, your marketing team will soon find out that Active Campaign is extremely user-friendly. What is more, they strive to present their services at the maximum efficiency level with the lowest price possible for their different subscription plans.


Active Campaign comes with three service packages depending on our contact list. Keep in mind, a yearly subscription gets us 15% off each plan, so consider going for it long-term if you find them comfortable. Even if our contact list exceeds the show limits below, we can negotiate a custom price with the company. There is also a free trial, too, so we can try the features before committing further.

Active Campaign Lite

The basic Active Campaign plan gets us up to three users at a time, an in-built chat and email support, with access to newsletter, mail, and marketing automation options. Going from 500 contacts at $9 a month, we go through many variations to reach the 100,000 contacts service for $369/month. The Lite version of Active Campaign is amazing for smaller businesses while maintaining an amazing contact list numbers. Even 100K wouldn’t be a problem for those guys, and we are more than happy with their pricing here. Small businesses can maintain a decent level of marketing automation and reporting even for the minimum subscription amount, and this, in our opinion, is one of the most flexible picks when it comes to such services.

Active Campaign Plus

With Plus, we increase the user number to 25 while also getting a custom domain, branding features, unique one-on-one training programs and some neat specialized goodies inside the plan. With 1,000 contacts standing at $49 a month, we get up to 25,000 contacts for $319 a month. While Plus adds some more features to the mix, we are limited to the 25K unique list participants unless we ask for an extended plan. With asking we shall receive, however, so there isn’t anything to worry about. Medium businesses will feel more than enhanced with the 25 user-option, and we definitely recommend this option if you are stuck in the middle between a local business and a worldwide enterprise.

Active Campaign Enterprise

Enterprise gives us 50 users, telephone support, service rep, a custom email domain, and some additional features mainly aimed at reporting. Yearly subscriptions here land us a $129/month price for 2,500 contacts, up to $479 for 25,000. This is definitely the Big Boys field – Active Campaign can handle the pressure, as we have seen from our tests. This plan is really best suited for bigger companies with double the user base of Plus, so get it if you need all of your employees occupied.

It’s safe to say that Active Campaign is all about tracking data. Each parameter in their interface is suited to enable easy reporting so we can track the success rate of our campaigns with ease. Starting with the To-Do list, all the way to designing custom emails and sending them out – Active Campaign got us covered.

Just like any respectable SaaS, Active Campaign packs various Customer Support channels. Video Tutorials, Knowledge Base, Directed Training, Ticketing, Messaging, Blog, Facebook, Twitter and phone support are all accessible with the first two plans in Active Campaign. The Enterprise limits us only to using phone support but this, too, can be played around, so don’t sweat it too much.

Comparison to Competitors in the Market

Compared to other email marketing companies like Campaign Monitor and AWeber, Active Campaign is very economical and prides in a very user-friendly interface. Also, compared to AWeber, Active Campaign has a wide range of automations to choose from and allows autoresponders with multiple conditions. Between GetResponse and Active Campaign, the latter offers you the same features at a more economical price.


Active Campaign is an all-around SaaS company – they know how to aim their efforts at enhancing marketing efficiency, and we can’t seem to find massive downsides to using them. Quick, responsive, with amazing tracking tools, the service is more than capable of bringing our efforts to profitable ends!
